Mission Trip to Honduras in 2014
In 2014, Dr. Anthony Nguyen organized and conducted an independent dental aid trip to Honduras. He worked in conjunction with the local clinic, which lacked even the most basic supplies such as gloves, masks, anesthetics, etc. Dr. Anthony Nguyen brought his own instruments and supplies, and spent eight to ten hours a day working by flashlight, operating on patients as they sat in plastic chairs. Every day, there were people waiting before the clinic’s 6 AM opening, having walked for two or three hours before sunrise for the opportunity to see a dental surgeon. Many of his patients had conditions which were beyond the ability of the medical facilities in the town. At the end of his stay, Dr. Anthony Nguyen donated most of the instruments and the remainder of the medicine he had brought to the local clinic. The time he spent in Honduras was brief, but the depth of the gratitude he saw in the eyes of his patients will always remain an influence on his dental practice.
